Garden City Classic Recap

By BallHockey.com-Tuesday 20 Feb 2024

What did you do this Family Day long weekend?
The Ballhockey.com family was together for our second event of the year.
The Men’s B field featured 5 incredibly close teams. Out of 13 total games, only one game had more than a 2 goal spread. The Hamilton Outlaws made the final having tied 3 of 4 round robin games, and a shootout semi-final win but came up short against the Champions, the Rose City Royals. Royals goaltender Jimmy Legault stood on his head in the final minutes of the game with some big time saves earning himself player of the game.

The Men’s D field was also incredibly close featuring a 5 way tie for seeds 2nd through 6th following the round robin. When the dust settled, it was the top seeded Niagara Jagrbombs defeating the Back Door Bandits for the Men’s D Championship. Congrats to Isaac McDonald on an incredible 21 point tournament and Championship player of the game.

The Co-ed Open division featured two heavyweights and two up and coming Niagara teams. In their first appearance in a large coed open tournament, the Niagara Teepees pulled off an upset semi-final win against Team U to make the final. The Hamilton Quackers took care of business in their semi-final matchup against the Hockey Hookers, setting up a championship game between the
Quackers & Teepees. 3 scoreless periods put the game into overtime before Jake Archambault scored the game winning goal giving the Hamilton Quackers the Championship and earning himself player of the game.

Thank you to all participating teams this weekend. We look forward to seeing you at the next event!
